What Brought Me Back to Christ, M.G. |
|
In my first three years of college I found myself searching for something but was not quite sure what it was. I was raised in a Christian home and received the Lord when I was eleven years old. During junior high and high school I pursued the Lord with a couple of my Christian friends. After high school, during my first year in college, I stopped pursuing Christ and began to pursue the things of the world. I was lost in the world for three years. After those three years I had begun to realize what I was missing and that was Christ. I had missed my Lord and was no longer satisfied with the world. During my first three years in college, I decided to change my major to music education. Because of my decision I had to transfer to Fullerton College. My first two months at Fullerton College were quite lonely. One afternoon I just could not take it anymore. I needed Christ and other believers with whom to go on. I cried out to the Lord, giving Him an ultimatum. I cried out saying, Lord if You do not send some genuine believers my way and connect me with them, I will not follow You anymore! Two hours later, the Lord sent me two girls who were Christians from the local church in Fullerton. At first, I had forgotten my prayer but, I remembered it two months later and thanked Him for it. At first, I met with these two dear sisters in the Lord, reading the Word, praying, and having genuine fellowship with them. Then they had invited me to a small college home meeting with others that met with the local church in Fullerton. That evening changed my life; it helped bring me back to Christ. I was overjoyed to find others so living with Christ. During that home college meeting, I saw more of Christ Himself than in all my years being a Christian. The singing, the praising and the speaking from everyone there attracted me to Christ, the One living in them and out through them. My experience of getting back to Christ, loving Him more, praising Him more, and seeing Him more came from what the eight to ten (there were only twelve there) shared that night. I was like the person Paul spoke of in 1 Corinthians 14:24-25. My experience I had that night related to these verses which say, But if all prophesy and some unbeliever or unlearned person enters, he is convicted by all, he is examined by all; the secrets of his heart become manifest; and so falling on his face, he will worship God, declaring that God is indeed among you. I was the unlearned person that night and came back to Christ by the others' prophesying (meaning to speak with God, for God, and forth God-not in the way of predicting the future). I was indeed convicted and was overflowing with joy that I was brought back to the Lord through those believers who met with the local church in Fullerton. There is a hymn, Hymns #325, that I often sing that expresses my joy. The chorus says, Hallelujah! I have found Him Whom my soul so long has craved! Jesus satisfies my longings; Through His life I now am saved. |
